overheadshotoffarm400 Golden Link Gypsies is owned and operated by veterinarians Drs. John P. Bryk and George R. Sikora. Both doctors have a lifelong background in animal husbandry, agricultural management, and, of course, veterinary medicine.

Dr. John P. Bryk was raised on an 800 acre dairy and horse farm in north central Ohio. After graduation in 1980 from pre-vet with a biology major from the College of Wooster, he returned home to manage the family farms. His desire was to gain hands on experience in working and operating a large scale agricultural business involved with livestock before entering the profession of veterinary medicine. Over a seven-year period, he managed a multi-million dollar livestock enterprise consisting of running a 300-cow dairy and large draft horse breeding farm, along with the accompanying farming operation supplying the feed for such an enterprise. Currently, this experience assists him in implementing the best and most efficient manner of care for the horses at Golden Link Gypsies. This enabled him to gain a savvy, grounds-roots foundation in livestock management. This background has allowed him to offer solutions to his clients involved in running large and small livestock operations.

bryk3While a student at the Ohio State University Veterinary College, he focused on large animal surgery and medicine. Upon graduation in 1991, he returned to north central Ohio and today practices equine medicine and surgery at the Mapleton Veterinary Clinic with his associates.

Dr. Bryk’s professional associations include the American and Ohio Veterinary Medical Associations, the American Association of Equine Practitioners, as well as serving as past Director of the Cuyahoga Agricultural Society and current Director of the Medina Agricultural Society.

Dr. George R. Sikora graduated from the Ohio State University College of Agriculture in 1964 and the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1967. After serving his country in the U.S. Air Force Veterinary Corps, he established his practices in northeast Ohio. Over the next 35 years, Dr. Sikora founded, developed, and sold five successful veterinary practices. His first practice was established at Northfield Park harness track and his last practice was established at the Mapleton Veterinary Clinic located at Mapleton Equine Center in Polk, Ohio.

Dr_SikoraDuring his practicing career, Dr. Sikora was one of the first veterinarians in Ohio to offer embryo transfer, establishing that business in 1980. After leaving practice, he became a founding member of Total Practice Solutions Group, a veterinary brokerage firm serving 42 states. He currently brokers veterinary practices in the Midwest and Mid Atlantic regions.

Dr. Sikora and his wife currently own and manage farms in Ohio, Missouri, and Texas.

Dr. Sikora has and continues to serve with such agricultural associations as a past director of the Ohio Simmental Cattle Association, and President of the Eastern States Salers Cattle Association, and a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau. Dr. Sikora’s professional associations, past and present, include the American and Ohio Veterinary Medicine Association, Association of Veterinary Practice Management Consultants and Advisors, the Society for Theriogenology, the International Embryo Transfer Society, the American Embryo Transfer Association, the International and Ohio Business Brokers Association and the National, and Ohio Association of Realtors.

In 2006, both doctors were introduced to the gypsy horse breed through one of Dr. Bryk’s clients.  After this introduction, extensive research was conducted by both doctors, and they became sold on this most wonderful and universal breed of horse.

While Golden Link Gypsies can assist new breeders with their C.E.M. quarantine facilities, the focus from the beginning of the company’s involvement was to become the Midwest and country’s premier breeder of dressage gypsy horses. Golden Link Gypsies encourages buyers to buy U.S.A.

They are convinced that there is presently enough genetics in the U.S.A. that importation will not be as important in the future as in the past.
